Apprentice Gill's RM5,000 fine stays

KUALA LUMPUR,  Sep 21, 2010

Apprentice Harmeet Singh Gill, who was charged on June 5 for failing to ride to the satisfaction of Stewards on MAGIC EIGHT and fined RM5,000, will have to pay the fine after all.

MAGIC EIGHT came from last at the home turn to finish joint sixth to SUCCESS WINNER in a Class 5 (Banded 28 & Below) event over 1600m in Ipoh on May 22.

The Perak Turf Club racing stewards reviewed the running of MAGIC EIGHT yesterday.

After taking fresh evidence from trainer Richard Lines, Gill and his master, trainer Johnny BT Lim, and also reviewing the films and after considering and reviewing this case, they decided to confirm the findings and the penalty meted out by the stipendiary stewards.
