Moreira bags five-timer including mini feature

Brazilian hotshot Joao Moreira bagged the mini feature Causeway Classic Stakes on HAZZA tonight enroute to claiming his second five-timer of the season at Kranji here tonight.

Moreira kicked home five winners on Feb 26 and his superb form has continued throughout the season. His five winners tonight brought his tally to 90 for the season.

Singapore's riding record, set by Noel Callow in 2007, is just 16 winners away. And there are 33 more meetings to go before the season ends.

HAZZA, who won two of his three starts in New Zealand, has made splendid progress in the last two months, winning three of his last four outings after being unplaced in his first four outings in Singapore.

HAZZA (King Of Kings - Starmandy by Spectacular Love), who started favourite, came from off the pace early to nail the front-running ESCAMONDA by a neck in a new course record time of 1 min. 51.3 secs.
