Malaysian racing to resume

IPOH:   Sep 8, 2010

Scheduled racing in Malaysia will resume next week when the Perak Turf Club host the second weekend of their September meeting.

There has been no scheduled racing in Malaysia since Aug 8 after a mare CLASSIC SPARKLE was found to contract Strangles just before the start of the Penang Turf Club August Meeting which was to be held in Ipoh, and a nationwide ban on the movement of horses imposed.

Since then, only the Selangor Turf Club managed to stage two novelty meetings for their home based horses.

The ban on the movement of horses in Penang and Kuala Lumpur was lifted earlier after tests on horses in the two centres returned negative results.

And now the Department of Veterinary Services Perak has lifted the ban on movement of horses in Perak as well which paved the way for the resumption of scheduled racing in Malaysia. A total of 25 races have been scheduled for the next weekend in Ipoh.
