Selangor cancels its September meeting

KUALA LUMPUR:  Aug 25, 2010

The Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) has called off its two-day September meeting scheduled for Sep 11 and 12, and replace it with a one-day novelty meeting on Sept 11 which is for home based horses only.

On Sep 12, the Malaysian clubs will continue to hold simulcasts of Singapore and Hong Kong races.

SLTC is also holding a one-day novelty meeting next Tuesday (Aug 31) to mark Malaysia's national day.

The cancellation of the September meeting comes about because the travel ban on horses nationwide has yet to be lifted to date, although the training tracks at the three racing centres have re-opened.

The ban was imposed last Tuesday after the Peter Lee-trained mare CLASSIC SPARKLE was tested positive for strangles. She has since been put down.

To hold the September Meeting would involve Ipoh and Penang trained horses travelling to the capital.
