Apprentice Vikram suspended six months

KUALA LUMPUR:  Aug 1, 2010

Apprentice Vikramathitan a/l Rasu (R Vikram) has been suspended six months for a positive urine test taken on Jun 13.

The Stewards concluded the inquiry into the above matter at the Selangor Turf Club today. Evidence was taken from Vikram, in the presence of his master, Trainer Tony Yeoh.

At the conclusion of the inquiry, Vikram pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample coded “J-2163” submitted by him on Jun 13 at the Selangor Turf Club June Meeting 2010, on analysis, revealed the presence of “Furosemide”, which is a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules.

In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the nature of the drug, his previous record and his guilty plea. Vikram was suspended for a period of six months from Jun 18 and to expire on Dec 17, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
