Jason Yeoh fails in appeal

PENANG:  Nov 22, 2011

Apprentice jockey Jason Yeoh has failed in his appeal against a two-year disqualification and a fine of RM50,000 and will be sidelined until Aug 20, 2013.

Yeoh was charged for his ride on WIENER in a Class 4 - 1100m sprint in Penang on Aug 18 when the Australian gelding finished fifth, less than two lengths from the winner THREE THOUGHTS.

The Penang Turf Club stewards heard his appeal today.

After considering submissions from the Stipendiary Steward, Yeoh who was assisted by a Certified Interpreter, Ms Mok Cheng Yoon and trainer LN Danis, the Racing Stewards dismissed the appeal against the two-year disqualification and the fine of RM50,000. App J Yeoh’s disqualification was confirmed to commence with effect from Aug 21 and to Aug 20, 2013, both days inclusive. His deposit was forfeited.

In addition, Danis was warned to ensure that he complies with the provisions of MRA Rule 35(7) in future, failing which action may be taken against him.
