Leticia Dragon takes over from father

SINGAPORE:  Nov 10, 2011

Singapore racing will have its first woman trainer when Leticia Dragon takes over from her father Douglas at the start of the new 2012 season.

After training for 27 years, the senior Dragon, 69, will retire at the end of the year and the Singapore Turf Club will be allocating stables to Leticia from the start of the new 2012 racing season.

Leticia, 37, a former airline stewardess, has been working with her father at Kranji since 2004.

In 2007, she completed a 12-month thoroughbred trainer’s course at Traintech in the Gold Coast, Australia in six months, including a placement with trainer Gillian Heinrich, after which she returned to Singapore to become assistant trainer to her father.
