Apprentice Rehaizat suspended two months

SINGAPORE:  Mar 21, 2011

Apprentice Tunku Rehaizat was today suspended two months for his handling of MAASHOOQ in the Initiation race over 1600m on Jan 21.

The Mok Zhan Lun trained MAASHOOQ (Observatory - Chatifa by Titus Livius) came from last of 10 runners at the home turn to finish fourth to DISTINCT NICHE.

The inquiry into the running and riding of MAASHOOQ in the above-mentioned race was concluded today.

Rehaizat, in the presence of his master, trainer Desmond Koh, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that between the 1400m until the 800m, he failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards when he failed to maintain and or improve his position relative to the field, thereby placing his mount at a disadvantage.

When deciding on penalty, the stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and the nature of the charge. Rehaizat was suspended from riding in racings for a period of two months with immediate effect from today to Mat 20 May, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
