Australian jockey Steven Baster, who finished second to runaway winner Joao Moreira with 72 winners last year, has his licence withdrawn by the Singapore Turf Club today.

SNTC gave no reason for the withdrawal in a surprise one-line statement today.

Baster was initially granted a six-month licence at the beginning of last year and that was extended till the end of the season. For the new season, he was granted a six-month licence from Jan 1.

The highlight of Baster's season in Singapore last year was booting four winners at Kranji on Aug 22: CAVALLO, THE BIG DEE, D'CREATOR and TERMINATOR.

He also made a successful trip to Penang to land the RM1mil Malaysia Magic Millions Classic on the Singapore trained MR BIG for trainer Michael Freedman.
