Two Perak Derby winners take on Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR:  Oct 23, 2013

MR AMBASSADOR and LITTLEBITOFJOY, winners of the Perak Derby last year and this year respectively, will take on some of Singapore's best stayers in the S$150,000 El Dorado Classic over 2200m at Kranji this Sunday, when the Singapore Turf Club stages a number of races which are open to Penang and Sungei Besi based horses.

The race is staged in honour of the now-retired Japanese galloper who won the Singapore Gold Cup thrice in 2008, 2009 and 2011.

MR AMBASSADOR, trained in Penang by Singaporean Jerome Tan, has not won for the past 12 months but showed glimpses of his old self when fourth in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor Selangor (2000m) last June and fourth in the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association Stakes (1600m) a month later.

After his victory in the Derby last year, he finished second in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor and followed by another win over 1700m.

LITTLEBITOFJOY, trained at Sungei Besi by Edylyn Goh, is heading south on a rich vein of form.

The American gelding made it four consecutive wins when he won the Derby back in April. He then followed up with a second-place finish to GOOD SIGHT in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor in June and finished fourth after a short let-up last month.

Besides MR AMBASSADOR, Tan has also entered BIG SURPRISE and GHOST SPEEDY and Subgei Besi based Shane Edwards is sending JOHNNY'S CAFE and CRAZY CLUB for a crack at success at Kranji.
