Flores begins two-week Singapore stint

SINGAPORE:  Jul 3, 2013

US-based jockey David Flores will be make his Kranji debut on Friday and stay on in Singapore for two weeks leading up to the Emirates Singapore Derby next Sunday.

Flores has picked up five rides on Friday and two on Sunday.

After beginning his career in his native Mexico in 1984, Flores, 45, has gone on to establish himself as one of the leading jockeys in America, especially in his Californian base.

Currently licensed by the California Horse Racing Board, Flores has recorded around 3,500 wins, including numerous Grade 1 wins, of which the most notable are three Breeders’ Cup races, three Hollywood Gold Cups, the Arlington Million and the American Oaks.

Flores’ proudest moment on the world stage was without a doubt his two feature wins for the powerful Godolphin Stable on Dubai World Cup night at the now-defunct Nad Al Sheba racecourse in 2001 - the United Arab Emirates Derby with EXPRESS TOUR and the Godolphin Mile with FESTIVAL OF LIGHT.

Flores goes to scale at 53.5kgs.
