How Yang suspended one month

KUALA LUMPUR:  Mar 24, 2013

Apprentice How Yang was on Monday handed a one-month suspension for his ride on AMARO UNO in a Class 5 - 1600m handicap in Penang on Mar 9.

AMARO UNO (Festival Hall - Jeune Edition by Jeune), trained by Leong Poh Keong, finished fifth to JERAM LIONCITY and missed out on fourth placing by a head.

Stewards concluded an inquiry at the Perak Turf Club on Monday. How Yang, the rider of AMARO UNO, in the presence of his master, trainer Loh Kin Kuen, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(6) for failing to ride his horse out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards in that whilst riding AMARO UNO in the above race, he stopped riding approximately three strides prior to the winning post, thereby losing fourth position.

How Yang’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one month. Acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the suspension was deferred to commence on Monday, Mar 25, to Apr 24, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
