Apprentice Lam fails in appeal

PENANG:  Oct 23, 2013

Lam Siew Leong, who has impressed in the first few months of the season with 11 winners, has failed in his appeal against a two-year disqualification and a RM50,000 fine.

Lam was charged for his ride on WIND OF SUCCESS, trained by his master Dr Tan Swee Hock, who finished third in a Class 4 - 1100m sprint here on Aug 11.

Lam's appeal was heard by the Penang Turf Club racing stewards today.

After reviewing the videos and considering submissions from the legal counsel for Lam, Dr Tan, and the chief stipendiary stewards Scott Matthews, the racing stewards dismissed Lam's appeal.

His disqualification takes effect from Aug 17 to Aug 16, 2015. His deposit was forfeited.
