Nazwan breaks through on Hooper

There is much to celebrate for apprentice Nazwan Bakri as Singapore racing takes a two-week break following the final day of racing this year at Kranji here today.

The number 13 may be unlucky for some but not Nazwan who landed his first career win on HOOPER in his 13th ride in the opening race today.

Nazwan was placed three times prior to today and came close to winning last Friday, when beaten a neck astride PURE RABID.

He made no mistake no HOOPER today, bringing the gelding from just off the pace to nail the front-running MOOVA CASH by a neck. It was the gelding's third win but his first win in 13 months.

"I have been with Cliff all the time and I have to thank him for his support," Nazwan said of his master Cliff Brown. "I am just so happy and excited to get this win under me."

"He’s had a bit of a hard time of late,” said Brown. “But the horses really run for him and he’s deserving of this breakthrough win."
