Shafrizal gets early win on Triple Coin

IPOH: Apr 13, 2013

Rookie apprentice Shafrizal Salleh needed the experience of just one unplaced ride to land his first winner on TRIPLE COIN in his debut meeting here today.

Indentured to trainer Jerome Tan, Shafrizal finished last on RENDEZVOUS in the opening event but that did nothing to lower his spirit as he piloted TRIPLE COIN to an all-the-way victory in the Who Knows 1960 Handicap (Class 5 - 1200m).

The Malaysian bred, who registered three of his previous four wins on wet tracks, had to stave off the challenge of ONLY WISH to win by a neck in the soft going.

There was a huge surprise when HERE COMES THUNDER bounced back to form after a lapse of eight months to win a Class 4 - 1100m sprint over straight course to pay RM373.
