Stepitup does it again in 3YO Classic

STEPITUP is one leg away from completing a clean sweep of the Singapore three-year-old series for the season after winning the S$350,000 Singapore 3YO Classic over 1400m at Kranji here today.

After narrowly winning the first leg, the Singapore 3YO Sprint last month, the Australian gelding was installed second favourite behind SUPER NINETYSEVEN in what was billed as a two-horse race today.

STEPITUP has won five of six starts while the latter comes into the Group 2 race with four wins from seven outings.

It was however ZAC SPIRIT who set the pace with the two favourites well back in the early running.

While jockey Ivaldo Santana made his move on STEPITUP on the home bend, his main rival was held up for a run and that proved decisive in the end with STEPITUP winning by three parts of a length.

Today's win was the biggest yet for trainer Sonny Yeoh who took over from his brother Dr Yeoh Kheng Chye last year.

SUPER NINETYSEVEN will get his chance for revenge when the pair meet again in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) on May 17.
