Edwards gets stay of execution by MRA

KUALA LUMPUR:  Sep 18, 2014

Trainer Shane Edwards has been granted an interim stay of execution by the MRA which enables him to continue to train and race his horses in the MRA circuit until his appeal to the Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal (RPAT) in Perth is concluded.

Edwards submitted an application under MRA Rule of Racing 152A for a stay of execution until the conclusion of the appeal hearing by RPAT in Perth against his 3-year disqualification and A$1,500 fine imposed by Racing and Wagering Australia (RWWA).

The Malayan Racing Association’s appointed panel, acting under MRA Rule 152A, concluded the hearing of the application at the Selangor Turf Club last Monday.

On evaluating the trainer’s submissions, the panel decided to grant Edwards an interim stay of execution. His applications to waive compliance of the condition in MRA Rule of Racing 152A(5)(b) and allow for a stay of execution pending the outcome of his appeal to the RPAT in Perth were granted.

His professional trainer licence was reinstated from Sep 15 until the date of the conclusion of the appeal hearing by RPAT in Perth.
