Leading South Australian apprentice Jamie Kah will begin her three-week stint in Singapore with two rides astride MY SWALLOW and ILUMINADO at Kranji tomorrow. She has been nominated for another ride on SELIGI on Sunday.

Her visit is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Singapore Turf Club and Thoroughbred Racing South Australia in organising the placement of the Duxes of their Apprentice School during short stints at Kranji.

Previous South Australian apprentice jockeys to have benefitted from that scheme are Amy Herrmann, Libby Hopwood, Jordan Frew and Krystal Bishop.

Kah, 18, who began her career with Strathalbyn trainer John McMillan only two years ago, has made a meteoric rise through the Adelaide riding ranks. Last year, she became the first apprentice jockey since Jason Holder in 1995/1996 to claim the Adelaide metropolitan jockeys’ premiership when she rode 41 winners.

She also won the John Letts Medal which recognises excellence in riding and outstanding achievements at all race meetings throughout the state.

Currently second on the 2013/14 with 27 winners, Kah has up to now ridden close to 180 winners comprising 70 at metropolitan level.

Kah, who has yet to score a "black type" win, has won several apprentice series at state level and also represented South Australia at the National Apprentice Series at Moonee Valley, Victoria, last year. As part of furthering her riding skills, Kah recently began a one-month attachment with Caulfield trainer Mick Price.
