Straleta wins Wilayah Silver Bowl

KUALA LUMPUR: Feb 1, 2014

STRALETA notched her second feature race win in six starts when she made all the running in the RM75,000 Wilayah Silver Bowl at Sungei Besi here today.

The Australian mare, who won two races in Australia for trainer Shane Edwards, first tasted success in the RM100,000 Sa Sa Fashion On The Turf, a feature race for fillies and mares, in early December.

After just one month of racing, Jai Shankar, who claimed the jockey's premiership for the first time last year with 52 winners, is already well clear at the top of the table with nine winners, signalling his intention to defend his crown.

But the star partnership of the afternoon, the first day of racing in the lunar year of the horse, was trainer Thomas Gillespie and jockey Yidanyl Aify who combined to win three races just as home based trainers made a clean sweep of the ten races.
