Good Baby wins again after long layoff

KUALA LUMPUR: Nov 29. 2015

GOOD BABY's habit of collecting trophies continued at Sungei Besi here today when he defied topweight to win the RM102,500 Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Trophy over 1400m.

It was his first start since his superb win in Sprint Trophy back in July when he beat a top-class field by eight lengths in Penang.

The Australian gelding, now eight years old, had won the Magic Millions Classic in 2011, the Sultan Gold Vase in 2012 and the Sprint Trophy and Selangor Gold Cup in 2013 under trainer Kevin Coetzee.

GOOD BABY captured the Coronation Cup last year, giving his current trainer Ooi Chin Chin his first taste of Cup success. The Sprint Trophy demonstrated that he is still racing at his best despite his age.

With apprentice able to claim is today's event, Ooi engaged Shafrizal Salleh to reduce the horse's weight of 61kg to 58kg but still giving away weight all-round.

Despite the long layoff, he was again on top of the game, winning his 14th race from 46 starts.
