Surprise win by 11-year-old Hear Me

SINGAPORE: Sep 13, 2015

HEAR ME showed that he can still raise a gallop at the age of 11 when he scored the biggest upset of the afternoon in the Phumelela Gaming & Leisure Limited Trophy (Class 5, Div 2 - 1400m handicap) at Kranji here today.

Apprentice Dellorto Pregasam, who partnered the New Zealand gelding to his last win in May last year, was again in the saddle today when HEAR ME came from midfield to beat Farrand by a neck.

HEAR ME, whose best finish was a fourth in the last 16 months, paid $142 for a win. It was his 10th win in 83 starts in Singapore. He also raced for three seasons in Australia for two wins.

The day's races started with another seasoned campaigner, nine-year-old LADY TRIO, taking the opening event to pay $101. It was his first success since winning back-to-back races in January 2011.

GOLDEN MILE, unplaced in his debut last month, also sprang a surprise in the Restricted Maiden - 1200m event to pay $146.
