Yazid suspended two months, files appeal

IPOH:  May 27, 2015

Jockey Mohd Yazid Mohd Kamal was yesterday suspended two months for his ride on NO MONEY NO TALK in a Class 5 - 1100m sprint over the straight course here last May 17.

The seven-year-old, trained by Stephen Cook, finished seventh of 13 runners behind the winner PIUS TOUCH.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the riding of NO MONEY NO TALK by Yazid yesterday.

After taking further evidence and reviewing the videos, Yazid was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards in that whilst riding NO MONEY NO TALK in the above race, he did restrain his mount NO MONEY NO TALK from approximately the 900m to the 700m when it was unnecessary and not reasonable to do so.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Yazid’s riding record and mitigating factors. Yazid was suspended from riding in races for a period of two months with effect from today to July 26, both dates inclusive. In addition, Yazid was fined the sum of RM5,000. He was informed of his right of appeal.

Trainer Cook was warned that he is to give specific riding instructions to all his riders for all his runners in future, failing which action may be taken against him.

Yazid subsequently lodged a notice of appeal.
