Classic Arrow causes big upset

Malaysian bred CLASSIC ARROW, who has already won twice this year, caused a major surprise when he was neglected in the betting but won by three-quarter length from the fast-finishing WASHINGTON BAY in the final event here today.

From his wide barrier (12), apprentice Daniel Jagadishan managed to take up a handy position early and challenged pacemaker CAMRY for the lead in the home stretch.

It was the fourth win in 24 starts for the son of Promontory Gold and was among the last batch of horses sold at the National Stud Farm in November 2012, costing just RM32,000.

CLASSIC ARROW paid RM240 for a win despite starting the 2016 season with a 1-2-1 record.

Former champion trainer Kevin Coetzee enjoyed a rare double nowadays when he sent out BIG LIGHTNING and CLASSIC ARROW to victory.
