Steel Cutter too sharp for his rivals

The final day of racing in Ipoh for 2016 today produced one of the biggest upsets of the season when STEEL CUTTER carved out a narrow win in the Initiation - 1200m sprint.

It was only the second career start for the New Zealand gelding who finished down the field in his debut last month. He paid RM438.

STEEL CUTTER was sold for NZ$15,000 as a yearling early last year but later in the year, he was presented at the Ready To Run sale and was knocked down for only NZ$2,500.

The day's racing started with another upset when 12-year-old CHINESE STREET showed that he still has it in him, fighting his way to his 13th win in a career that began in 2007.

CHINESE STREET failed to win a race at Kranji but has been a money-spinner since moving to Malaysia in 2009.
