Biggest win for emerging En Lauder

KUALA LUMPUR:  Aug 21, 2016

For so long, EN LAUDER struggled to get into the winner's circle in both Singapore and Malaysia.

But since finally coming right early this year, the son Zabeel has been making tremendous progress, culminating with his victory in the RM320,000 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor at Sungei Best here today.

The New Zealand gelding, who cost NZ$140,000 as a yearling, managed just one placing in seven starts in Singapore.

EN LAUDER moved to Malaysia in the middle of last year and it took five unplaced starts in his new country before hitting the mark in a Maiden event last January.

He then went on to win his next three starts as well and was placed in three subsequent outings before tackling 2000m for the first time today.

Ridden by Jackson Low, EN LAUDER was always racing well up with the pace but was denied a run between runners in the home stretch. Low switched him out behind the heels of the two front runners and EN LAUDER managed to get up in the last few strides to win by a neck from SUPER FIVE with MR ARMSTRONG a further neck away third.

It's the first win in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor for both jockey Low and trainer Frank Maynard.
