Pisces Star shines in Goodwill Cup

PENANG: Oct 15, 2016

When Leong Poh Keong had PISCES STAR under his care for two seasons in 2013 and 2014, the veteran trainer won five races with the Australian gelding.

After parting for some 22 months, the gelding was back with the Ipoh trainer in April this year. After five unplaced runs, PISCES STAR was back at his best when he won an Enrich Stakes A race in Ipoh early this month.

With Jose De Souza again in the saddle, the six-year-old followed that up to win the RM75,000 Macau Jockey Club Goodwill Cup in heavy going here today.

PISCES STAR, purchased by his owner for A$23,000 at the Horses In Training Sale, has now started 38 times for eight wins.

For RUNFORIT, it was second time the charm. The Australian gelding was placed once in six starts when briefly trained by Cecil Robert in 2014.

Back with Robert since the middle of last year, RUNFORIT has now won five times for the Penang based trainer, notching up back-to-back wins when battling to victory in a Class 5 - 1600m handicap today.
