Back-in-form Quechua claims 7th win

Former Singapore Gold Cup QUECHUA is back to somewhere near his best form when he triumphed in the Kranji Stakes A event over 1600m at Kranji here today.

Although the 1600m is not considered his ideal distance, the Argentinian gelding nevertheless made it count this time after being placed in all his four previous attempts over the distance.

Ridden by Corey Brown, QUECHUA came from last early to beat SPANISH BAY by a neck.

"He’s not been the same in the last three or four months, but when I galloped him on Saturday, I could feel the old QUECHUA was back," said Brown who partnered him to victory in the Singapore Gold Cup in 2014 and in the Emirates Singapore Derby last year.

With the win, QUECHUA brought his Singapore record to seven wins and 11 placings in 21 starts and just over S$3m in prizemoney.
