KUALA LUMPUR:  Feb 24, 2016

Jockey Thai Yang Singh has been suspended three months from Feb 23 for failing to providea urine sample and attend an inquiry as directed by the Stewards on Feb 13.

The Stewards, on Feb 23 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded an inquiry the above matter and evidence was taken from Thai Yang.

Thai Yang pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 152(5)(b) in that on Feb 13, he was given a Stewards’s directive to remain on course to provide a urine sample, however, he failed to do so and he also failed to notify the Stewards personally prior to leaving the course on that day.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Thai Yang’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months from Feb 23 to May 22, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
