Mr Paulandre wins Sports Toto Trophy

KUALA LUMPUR: Dec 10, 2017

The first time apprentice Saddam Hussein Saari rode MR PAULANDRE two months ago, the pair was an instant hit, winning an Elite B - 1600m event on this track.

Three unplaced runs later, with Saddam back to partner the six-year-old, the Australian gelding landed a bigger prize when he triumphed in the RM102,400 Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Trophy at Sungei Besi here today.

And MR PAULANDRE had to do it the hard way. Racing three-wide round the bend into the straight, he drifted out a little wide at the top of the straight with four horses inside him.

The first five horses were almost in a line at the 200m but it was MR PAULANDRE who surged head in the closing stages and held off the determined challenge of SEA WORLD to register his fifth win in 20 starts.
