Another Classic win for Poseidon

POSEIDON was on a hot streak early last year when he completed a hat-trick in winning the Racing Guide Classic in March.

In the 19 months since, the New Zealand gelding has picked up two more wins but he has also failed in three attempts at group races this year.

However, everything came right again for POSEIDON when he bounced back to win the Racing Guide Classic for the second consecutive year at Kranji here today.

Just like last year, the Classic was staged 1400m and this time he outsprinted the favourite LIM'S SAMURAI by 1 1/4 lengths for his eighth win in 30 starts.

For winning trainer Cliff Brown, it was his third win in the Classic in the four edition that have been staged so far. Brown won the inaugural running with LORD BROMPTON in 2013.

"He’s always been a lovely horse, so genuine. He does everything you ask of him, it’s a pleasure to train him," Brown said of POSEIDON.
