Freedman leads pack with 50th winner

Lee Freedman consolidated his position at the top of the trainer's table when the first of his two runners for the evening, TESORO PRIVADO, romped to an easy win in the Kranji Stakes A - 1400m event at Kranji here tonight.

The former five-time champion Melbourne trainer is having his first full season in Singapore and TESORO PRIVADO's win was his 50th for the year.

However, Freedman is only two winners ahead of Shane Baertschiger, who drew a blank tonight, and Michael Clements, who kept pace when saddling SIAM VIPASIRI in the Restricted Maiden event.

TESORO PRIVADO, ridden by Olivier Placais, led all the way to win by 2 3/4 lengths and is now unbeaten in three starts since coming under the care of Freedman.

The Argentinian gelding won three times in 11 starts when prepared by Ricardo Le Grange but has gone up another level since joining Freedman.

"He’s a nice horse. He had two months’ break before he came to me," said Freedman.

The mood in Freedman's camp was dampened later won when it was revealed that the four-year-old had returned having bled and that means at least three months on the sideline for the gelding.
