War Dragon too hot to handle for rivals

Although a late starter, WAR DRAGON showed what he is capable of when he put up a scintillating performance to score a runaway win in a Open Maiden event over 1200m at Sungei Besi here today.

The Battle Paint four-year-old only started racing last month, finishing unplaced in his debut, then ran second in his next start in a Novice event.

Punters were quick to realise his potential and sent him out odds-on favourite here today. Ridden by Yudanyl Aify, WAR DRAGON toyed with the opposition to win by 7 1/4 lengths.

The New Zealand gelding has pedigree on his side, as his dam JABOT is a half-sister to ZIRNA, who win seven races in New Zealand and Singapore including the Group 1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Stakes, the Singapore Gold Cup and Raffles Cup.

Meanwhile, 12-year-old TEEN ANGEL continued to defy her age with her second of the season, bringing her career total to 10 wins in 105 starts.
