Top Knight slays rivals in 3YO Classic

TOP KNIGHT (outside) claims the Singapore 3YO Classic in a three-way

TOP KNIGHT stepped up on his splendid second to BOLD THRUSTER in the Singapore 3YO Sprint (1200m) to claim the Group 2 S$400,000 3YO Classic over 1400m at Kranji here tonight.

Judging from the way he came from a long way in the field to the second leg of the Singapore 3YO Challenge, the son of Zouster must be a horse to beat in the final leg over 1600m in three weeks' time.

Partnered by Vlad Duric, TOP KNIGHT was second last in the 12-horse field and still had just two horses behind him making the turn into the home straight.

Duric switched him out wide at the top of the straight and TOP KNIGHT began to open up at the 200m. Pacemaker MAKKEM LAD meanwhile was holding off all challengers but he had no answer when TOP KNIGHT caught him near the post. The margin was a head with another short head to ELITE INCREDIBLE who was also flashing home.

"Top Knight has done it the hard way, but luckily, his class saw him through at the business end," said trainer Michael Clements. "I think over this trip, he’s the best among my other three-year-olds, and he will be even better over the mile."
