Magic City comes alive after 10 months

MAGIC CITY came alive after almost 10 months to snatch a thrilling win in the Class 3 - 1300m handicap here today.

The Brazilian ridgeling began his career promisingly in 2017 when he won three races. But after another win in Class 3 in mid-2018, he trained off and eventually was shipped over to trainer Asogan Thangaraju here in late last year.

MAGIC CITY won his second start in the country early this year but managed just one placing since.

But with apprentice Firdzriel Izham riding him for the first time today, the seven-year-old settled well off the pace early. The apprentice stuck to the rails throughout and found a big opening on the inside making the turn into the straight.

Pacemaker SATELLITE BOY kicked away at the 300m and was well clear. But MAGIC CITY, SACRED SURFER and TERMS OF REFERENCE charged at him in the final 50m. MAGIC CITY won by a neck.
