Racing resumes with double upsets

KUALA LUMPUR: Jul 19, 2020

The first day of racing after the four-month break due to the coronavirus pandemic did not start well for punters at Sungei Besi here today when outsiders took the opening two races.

Ten-year-old BUKIT SUBANG landed his first win since February 2018 when he won the opening event to pay RM201 for a win. It was his eighth success in 79 starts.

READY TO ROLL, who found one to beat in his last two starts early in the season, triumphed in the next race to pay RM115. It was the mare's fiffht win in 34 runs.

Punters had to wait until the sixth event to see their favourite oblige. Four-year-old WATCH THE THRONE, purchased for NZ$100,000 as a yearling, made his belated debut and romped home by 3 1/2 lengths to pay RM9.

Another odds-on favourite followed him into the winner's circle. HAPPY BUFFALO, with just one previous win in 20 runs, also scored a runaway win to pay RM8.
