Munes signals return with Bizar Wins

It was his first day back in action at Kranji after a lapse of nearly three years but Manoel Nunes rode as if he has never been away.

Booked on six horses in today's 12-race card, the Brazilian nailed it his third ride when he piloted BIZAR WINS in the Class 5, Div 1 - 1100m handicap on the polytrack.

It was the maiden win for the Australian gelding in nine starts, after having been placed twice.

Nunes won three Singapore premiership from 2015 to 2017 was was second to Vlad Duric in 2018 after which he was relicenced.

"I’ve been a bit worried about maintaining my fitness during the 10-day quarantine. I have also not been able to jump on a horse for so long, all I did back in Brazil was ride trackwork," said Nunes who was granted a six-month licence in June but only got the greenlight to ride till now.

"I did a lot of swimming and running since I left the hotel, but I have to say I was fine today. I’m not too bad at all, I was not breathless or feeling sore, but I’m sure I’ll get better with more riding."

Nunes had to undergo 10-day quarantine since arriving in Singapore to take up his second stint.

Meanwhile, Danny Beasley booted home three winners to close the gap on premiership leader, apprentice Hakim Kamaruddin who was serving a suspension today.

Beasley brought his tally to 48 with wins on debut winner JUST BECAUSE, FIRST BOWL and RED OCEAN. Hakim still leads with 54 winners with just three racing days left before the Singapore 2021 season ends.
