Time Lord stages come-from-behind win

TIME LORD stepped up on a warm-up run over 1400m last month to stage a come-from-behind victory in the Class 3 - 1600m handicap at Kranji here today.

The Guillotine gelding had wrapped up the 2020 season winning a Kranji Stakes c - 2000m event last November.

TIME LORD clearly demonstrated a liking for long journeys (his other success last year was over 1800m) when jockey John Powell settled the gelding in the rear bunch.

Powell switched TIME LORD the wide out when the field swung for home. The six-year-old then picked up momentum slowly buy gradually and raced past the field in the final 50m to win by half a length.

"He’s a funny horse. He had a wind op, and he can be hard to work out, but today was his day," said trainer Mark Walker. "Johnny seems to know this horse well, and rode him a treat."

Powell has now ridden TIME LORD twice for two wins, including his last success.

TIME LORD won a race each in New Zealand and Australia and was also placed third in the Group 2 Waikato Guineas and Group 2 Valachi Downs Championship at Pukekohe in 11 starts at three. In Singapore, he had now picked up five wins in 23 starts.
