Volcanic General erupts after long spell

KUALA LUMPUR: Oct 3, 2021

Champion galloper VOLCANIC GENERAL returned to racing after 26 months on the sidelines and performed as if he has never been away in the Supreme A set-weight event over 1100m at Sungei Besi here today.

The son of Magnus, winner of five races in 19 starts in Australia, took Malaysian racing by storm in early 2017 when he won the Tunku Gold Cup in his local debut.

VOLCANIC GENERAL went on to win five more big races over the next three seasons, his last being the Perak Gold Vase in June 2019.

After two subsequent unplaced runs that year, the Australian gelding was not seen in action again, until today.

Although having turned 10 years old, punters were still in the champion and installed him odds-on favourite. VOLCANIC GENERAL did not disappoint, coasting to a comfortable 1 1/4-length win.
