Xena wins first 4YO Challenge in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Apr 11, 2021

The high-flying WHITE HOOF BIRD was finally shot down in the first KL heat of the Malaysia 4YO Challenge at Sungei Besi here today.

Unbeaten in five starts since his arrival in Malaysia, the Australian gelding tried to make all the running in the 1200m set-weight event but XENA ran him down in the final 200m to win by three-quarter of a length.

WIN EASY finished well beat WHITE HOOF BIRD for second.

XENA returned from a spell two weeks ago to score a runaway win in Class 4 here. The New Zealand mare skipped the first heat in Ipoh last week and the move paid off when she finished better than WHITE HOOF BIRD.

It was the third win in 13 starts for the mare who was purchased for NZ$30,000 at the Ready To Run sale.
