Moongate Light shining bright at eight

Despite turning eight, MOONGATE LIGHT is racing at his best-ever form after his relocation from Singapore in the middle of last year.

Winner of three races in 20 starts at Kranji, the Bachelor Duke gelding began his Malaysian campaign in style, winning his first debut in Class 3 and then defeated the top-rated GRAND CROSS on this track the next start.

MOONGATE LIGHT then finished second to VIOLET in the Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup last month and ended the 2021 season with a third-place finish in the Christmas Trophy here.

And now, MOONGATE LIGHT has started the new season with stylish win in the New Year Trophy over 1200m here today.

Although the distances was shorter than the his recent trips, the New Zealand gelding was able to settle just behind the pace and raced past the pacemaker RELAU STAR in the final 200m to win confortably.
