Second Golden moment for Fahmi

It has taken apprentice Fahmi Rosman seven months to strike gold for the second time in his career.

Last September, Fahmi notched his first career win on SILENT IS GOLD in a Class 4 - 1200m sprint.

The son of Better Than Ready has been racing in a good form of late, winning in Class 3 last month in between placings in Class 2, before Fahmi took the ride on the gelding in the Class 3 - 1400m handicap today.

The pair was quickly in front after the jump and led the rest on a merry chase. SILENT IS GOLD drifted out in the final 200m but held on to win by a neck from WAR PRIDE who tried in vain to get to the leader in the closing stages.

But Fahmi's second career victory was only confirmed in the steward's room after the trainer of WAR PRIDE lodged an objection for alleged interference approaching the 200m. The objection was dismissed.

"He (SILENT IS GOLD) was a bit keen in the backstraight and he wanted to be left alone," said Fahmi. "He also laid out in the final furlong, but that’s in his nature and what happens when horses come up to him. He was still strong to the line."

SILENT IS GOLD has nor won five times in 15 starts.
