Super Salute greets the judges for four-up

SUPER SALUTE holds on for his fourth consecutive win - SNTC photo

SUPER SALUTE took advantage of a big drop in the weights to capture the Class 2 - 1200m sprint at Kranji here today to make it four consecutive wins.

After finishing fourth in his Singapore debut, the Australian gelding has gone from strength to strength.

With Mamoel Nunes unable to make the allotted weight of 50kg, Krisna Thangamani took the ride on the son of I Am Invincible. Although the jockey won just one race in the new season prior to today, he handled the job perfectly.

SUPER SALUTE settled just off the pace in fifth spot early, moved up to fourth at the home turn, then raced past SILENT IS GOLD who had taken the lead at the 200m to win by half a length from QUARTER BACK who was flashing home near the line.

"I was worried about his barrier issues, so when he fly-jumped, I panicked a bit. I think most jockeys would, as he was the favourite in a good race," said Krisna.

"But he picked up straightaway and put himself into a nice position. I had a good horse (SILENT OF GOLD) to follow, so when I got off the fence, I knew we had a very good turn of foot and had a good chance to win.

"QUARTER BACK came quick though. I knew I had won but I was watching him until the line."

SUPER SALUTE raced 15 times for two seasons in Australia for a win and four placings which included a second in the Group 2 Breeders' Plate at Randwick at two.
