Stewart returns to riding with a win

SINGAPORE: Aug 13, 2023

Sidelined for the past five weeks due to an issue with his employment pass, Ron Stewart returned to the saddle with a win on ST ALWYN in the Class 5, Div 1 - 1200m handicap on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

The Australian has ridden the Epaulette gelding thrice before, coming close to winning last time out when second to LIM'S ZOOM in a similar race on the polytrack in March.

This time the pair came from charging home after being in midfield most of the way to win by one and three quarters lengths. It was the gelding's fourth win in 45 starts.

Placed in two runs in Class 1 after an easy win in Class 2 last June, GENERAL COMMAND appreciated a drop back in class to win the Class 2 - 1100m sprint, leading all the way.

A winner at Caulfield in Australia, the Shalaa gelding has now won five of his eight starts, and placed three times, in Singapore.
