Happy Birthday celebrates new season in style

Unplaced in 11 runs in Singapore when racing as Shine Almighty, HAPPY BIRTHDAY was placed all in his six starts in 2022 after his transfer to Malaysia and a change of name.

The Shamexpress mare finally shed his maiden status last year when she won times in Class 5.

Promoted after a double last October, the seven-year-old finished on board twice at the tailend of last season before getting back in the winner's circle in the Class 4 - 1400m handicap here today.

Ridden by Ruzaini Supien, HAPPY BIRTHDAY was the first to break and led briefly before easing back to second when WHY NOT took over the running.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY quickly collared WHY NOT at the top of the straight and raced away in the final 200m to score a runaway 4 3/4-length win.

SPIDERMAN, who also broke the duck after his transfer to Malaysia last year, has also started the season well, winning the Class 4 - 1100m handicap.
