Circuit Mission accomplishes another win

PENANG: May 26, 2024

Nine-year-old CIRCUIT MISSION is embarking on the third phase of his career with success, just as he had done in his previous two.

The Irish gelding by High Chaparral won two races — including one at Ascot — and was placed four times in eights starts at two and three in England.

Brought over to Singapore, CIRCUIT MISSION won three consecutive races early in his time at Kranji in 2019 before contesting numerous group races without success in the ensuing years.

In the last year, he has raced against the likes of LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO and HONGKONG GREAT in the big races at Kranji. But his best effort in the group races was a fourth to PROSPEROUS RETURN in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in 2022, the year he won twice more in Class 3.

At the beginning of this year, CIRCUIT MISSION crossed the causeway to join trainer Frank Maynard.

He made his Malaysian debut three weeks ago, finishing second to CHONKY POTATO over 1020m at Sungai Besi.

Up against three runners in the Rapid Stakes A event over 1100m today, CIRCUIT MISSION sat behind the pace in third spot early before moving up to second making the turn into the straight.

CIRCUIT MISSION tried to overhaul the leader but the pacemaker BIG DOCTOR held on well to his lead, until the final stages. That's when CIRCUIT MISSION closed the gap with every stride and eventually got up in the last couple of strides to win by a neck.
