Silo leaves for Hong Kong on a high

SILO leaves for Hong Kong (to continue his racing) on the best possible note after he defied a promotion to win the Class 3 - 1400m handicap at Kranji here today, thus completing a hattrick.

It was also his fourth win in eight starts and the Australian colt has never been out of the money since making his Singapore debut last May.

Ridden by Vlad Duric, the three-year-old settled in second spot behind RED DOT who set a brisk pace.

SILO came within a length of RED DOT at the 300m but soon after it was MAKIN who charged home on their inside and took the lead 200m out.

SILO, however, gradually wore him down in the final 100m to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

"He put on a good show today," said Stephen Crutchley after saddling his first winner of the year.

"I was really happy with him going into the race and knew he would be hard to beat, but still nice to see him get the job done.

"I wasn’t concerned when the other horse (MAKIN) kicked in the straight as Vlad knew what he had under him."

SILO will soon go into a 21-day quarantine before flying out to Hong Kong.

"I think you will see a bigger and stronger horse when he races in Hong Kong," said Crutchley.

Duric completed a double when taking out the final event on PACIFIC MV but it was Frenchman Ryan Curatolo who started the afternoon on fire, taking the first three races on OUR SECRET WEAPON, OCTOBER and LION SPIRIT.
