Upon jumping, MAHA (App A Thamil) and METALLICA (Lou Ho) bumped.

Upon jumping, DYNAMIC TRIO (J Shankar) shifted outwards and inconvenienced BUZZ MAN (J Low).

Shortly after the start, NIGHT DEMON (App AK Lim) was inconvenienced when EASY AHEAD (J De Souza) shifted inwards.

Approaching the 1000m, PRERICH (App Z Khairil) had a tendency to over-race, got its head up and made the turn awkwardly.

Approaching the 200m, METALLICA was held up for a clear run behind EASY AHEAD, and had to shift out to gain clear running.

BULL AND BEAR (App S Zulfikri) raced wide throughout the event.

 RACE 2:  WISHES GRANTED STAKES
                 CLASS 5 - 1100M

KIM SALUTE (S Ruzaini) jumped awkwardly.

FOX TREASURE (J Low) was slow to begin.

THUNDER KING (J Shankar) jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start, was inconvenienced between SUPER MIX (App SU Lim) and AL AWAATEF (R Olechea) and lost ground.

In the early stages of the event, FOX TREASURE (J Low) had a tendency to over-race and got its head up.

Approaching the 600m, NEW CLASSMATE (C Goon) shifted in closer to the rail and as a result, both AL AWAATEF and JAI HO (M Ganeesh) had to be eased by their riders. Jockey C Goon was shown the official patrol film of the incident and reminded of his obligation to exercise greater care when shifting ground under similar circumstances in future or action will be taken against his license.

The Stewards questioned App SU Lim and Trainer WC Lim as to the racing tactics that were adopted on SUPER MIX in today’s event. The Stewards were concerned into why App SU Lim led from a wide barrier which was contrary to his Trainer’s Instruction Form which was to be handy to midfield.

Trainer WC Lim explained that SUPER MIX had a tendency to over-race in its races and he was trying to endeavour to get a midfield sit if possible in order to try and settle the mare in its races.

App SU Lim stated that after jumping well, SUPER MIX over-raced and he was unable to settle the mare, so he elected to go forward rather than sit wide and allowed her to race where she was comfortable. He further stated that the mare may be better suited in 1000m races at this stage of preparation. The Stewards noted their comments for future reference. A post-race veterinary examination of SUPER MIX revealed no significant finding.

The Stewards took evidence from Trainer M Sukri and Jockey S Ruzaini into the racing tactics that were adopted on KIM SALUTE in today’s event.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, after viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, Jockey S Ruzaini, the rider of KIM SALUTE, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that he did not give sufficient rein when jumping out of the barrier and he settled at the rear of the field. The Stewards believed that in the home straight, he failed to show sufficient vigour in particular over the final 300m of the event.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Ruzaini’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of one month with effect from 14 February 2016 and to expire on 13 March 2016, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (6:20pm).

RACE 3:  PEACE & HAPPINESS STAKES
                 CLASS 5 - 1100M

The start of this race was delayed for 3 minutes when REACHING (S Ruzaini) broke through the barriers and galloped for a short distance. REACHING was returned to the barriers, examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to take its place in the field.

Upon jumping, GREY IS POWER (App SU Lim) began awkwardly and shortly thereafter, knuckled resulting in the rider becoming very unbalanced, almost being dislodged and lost some ground as a consequence.

Approaching the 500m, NO MONEY NO TALK (J De Souza) had to be eased off the heels of NUWA (App A Thamil) and raced roughly for a short distance.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App P Deneskumar, the rider of ENGLISH DREAM, in the presence of his master, Trainer L Moy, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1000m, he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of FUMIO (App AK Lim) resulting in the rider having to take hold of his mount and lose his position.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App P Deneskumar’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three Malaysian race days with effect from 14 February 2016 and to expire on 27 February 2016, both dates inclusive, to be served concurrently with his earlier suspension today. He was advised of his right of appeal (4:20pm).

 RACE 4:  GREAT PROSPERITY STAKES
                 CLASS 5 - 1500M

JET COSMO (App P Deneskumar) was fractious in the barrier and jumped awkwardly.

FULL MEANING (Lou Ho) jumped awkwardly and threw its head in the air.

COMONBABY (H Bukhari) was inconvenienced shortly after the start as a result of CLAIM (R Burnett) jumping inwards and FLY HIGH (App SU Lim) jumping outwards.

Approaching the 1000m, COMONBABY had a tendency to over-race, had to be eased off the heels of the leader, ABSOLUTE MAVERICK (S Salee) and as a result, shifted inwards and inconvenienced MR ABRACADABRA (J Shankar). COMONBABY continued to race fiercely in the early and middle stages. Jockey J Shankar was cautioned in relation to the manner in which he used his right elbow in this incident.

Leaving the 500m, FULL MEANING was held up for a clear run behind runners in front and failed to get a clear run until the 100M where he had to shift to the outside of LECTERN (J De Souza) to gain clear running.

Entering the front straight in the run to the finish, LOYALTY GALA shifted out under pressure resulting in GRAND SHOW (SS Vanan) having to be eased by its rider and shifted in to gain clear running.

Over the final stages of the event, FLY HIGH (App SU Lim) shifted out under pressure when being struck with the whip resulting in CLAIM becoming tightened for room when racing on the inside of JET COSMO, and LECTERN losing its rightful position. The Steward did not take any action on App SU Lim as CLAIM had contributed by shifting in slightly.

The Stewards issued Jockey H Bukhari, the rider of COMONBABY, a reprimand in relation to his whip use in the run to the finish as it was borderline whether he was striking the gelding forward of the shoulder.

 RACE 5:  BRIGHT FUTURE STAKES
                 CLASS 5 - 1500M

UNME (SS Vanan), which became fractious in the barrier and dislodged its rider, was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

JERAM GLORY (LL Tai) stood flat-footed and missed the start.

PLENTY IN HAND (App S Zulfikri) stood flat-footed and refused to jump. Given the mare’s previous record in relation to this type of offence, PLENTY IN HAND will be required to pass 2 starting stall tests (at consecutive weekly intervals) before being declared to race again.

SILENT DREAMS (App S Shafrizal) jumped awkwardly.

Approaching the 1000m, CONQUISTADOR (App AK Lim) had a tendency to over-race and had to be eased off the heels of runners in front, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. As a result of this incident, BOWEN BOY (App P Deneskumar) and HAHA BABE (S Ruzaini) were both inconvenienced.

The Steward questioned Jockey LL Tai and Trainer WC Lim into the unusual and disappointing performance of JERAM GLORY. Jockey LL Tai reported that he was at a complete loss as the gelding jumped okay, however, when he urged the horse forward, it failed to respond to his riding and had no pace despite his vigourous riding.

Trainer WC Lim was also disappointed with the run and could offer no explanation. He further stated that there must be something amiss with the gelding after its performance in today’s event as it had worked well during the week. A post-race veterinary examination of JERAM GLORY revealed that the gelding returned broken-winded and as such will be required to undergo a corrective surgery, and thereafter pass a 1000m/vet test before being entered to race again. The gelding was impounded.

BEAUTY ADMIRE (J Shankar) was slow to begin.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey S Salee, the rider of BULLDOG’S PRIDE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that at approximately the 550m, he shifted in which resulted in BEAUTY ADMIRE (J Shankar) being severely checked onto the rail and as a result, lost its rightful position.

In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Jockey S Salee’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey S Salee’s suspension.
