MARCH MEETING
First Day,  Saturday,  19 March 2016

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1100M

RAINBOW EASY, which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ONWATS APP (TM Wan) jumped awkwardly and was a little slow to begin.

At about the 1000m, RAINBOW EASY (App AK Lim) was bumped between THE TIGER (App AM Aizat) and CLASSIC ARROW (App T Krisna) which steadied outwards away from BERNI DANCER (R Olechea).

At about the 700m, ONWATS APP which was pulling and was difficult to settle, checked outwards and lost some ground. Shortly afterwards, rounding the turn approaching the 600m, BUKIT BINTANG (J Low) became unbalanced, checked and lost some ground. Jockey J Low subsequently reported that his horse was racing tight, became unbalanced, shied and lost ground.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BUKIT BINTANG and RAINBOW EASY revealed no obvious abnormality. BUKIT BINTANG was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

Jockey TM Wan, the rider of ONWATS APP, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

THE PROFESSIONAL, a course scratching as it had a swollen right knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

AGELESS, which was down 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

MARATHON LAD (App AM Aizat) which stood at the start and lost some ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

At the start, MAGICAL TEN (CK Tan) jumped awkwardly outwards and laid outwards in the early part of the race.

App AM Aizat (MARATHON LAD), App KC Wong (CIZEN BROTHER), Jockey M Yusri (FEARED) and Jockey S Sandana (ZENIDIN) reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of CIZEN BROTHER, FEARED and ZENIDIN revealed no obvious abnormality. FEARED, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of MARATHON LAD and STUB (J De Souza) revealed that both geldings returned lame near-fore and will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4 - 1100M

SMART MONEY, a course scratching as it had cellulitis off-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

THE THINKER (App AM Aizat) became restless after being placed in the barriers.

Approaching the 800m, CAPRICCI PRINCE (J Low) laid outwards, steadied off the heels of NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (App KC Wong) and lost some ground. Thereafter, CAPRICCI PRINCE continued to lay outwards on the bend, into the home straight and finished the race wide.

METEOR PRINCE (App CT Lee) and THE THINKER both had a tendency to lay outwards under pressure in the home straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of NEVERUNCONDITIONAL revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

 RACE 4:  COSMO B (SW) - 1300M

IMPEL, a course scratching as it had colic, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Behind the barriers, Jockey Lou Ho requested for a veterinary examination on DIRAC and was passed fit to race.

At the start, GOLD DANCER (F Yap) hesitated and was slow to begin.

HALO INSPIRE (J Chuah) was pulling hard and was difficult to settle in the back straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of MOGAN’S PET (App SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 5:  BREAKTHROUGH STAKES - 1400M

Trainer A Scott was fined RM500 under PNTC Official Programme Clause 3.4 for scratching ALL WEALTH without a veterinary certificate.

NONEMOREDESERVING (CK Tan) was a little slow to begin and showed no pace in the back straight.

PISCES GEM (J De Souza) which jumped awkwardly at the start, laid inwards under pressure in the closing stages.

App Z Khairil, the rider of DROUGHT, was dislodged after the finish at the pull-up. He was taken to hospital for observation and was exempted from weighing-in.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GREAT PRINCE (App AM Aizat) and NEVERMOREDESERVING revealed no obvious abnormality. GREAT PRINCE was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination. NEVERMOREDESERVING, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

HAPPY CHOICE (S Salee) was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 2.35 pm acting on veterinary advice that the gelding had a swollen left knee. HAPPY CHOICE will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

After being placed into the barriers, LA FAMILIA (App S Shafrizal) became restless, kicked the back gate, was taken out of the barriers, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and was reloaded.

SEA QUEEN (J De Souza) was leaning in the barriers, hesitated at the start, jumped awkwardly inwards and was slow to begin.

COCONUT (TM Wan) was slow into stride and showed no interest in the race.

 

NATURE IS NATURE (HS Gill) raced three wide on the turn.

At about the 350m, PISCES JET (App KC Wong) raced tight and STREET TEASE (R Olechea) was momentarily held up on the inside of PISCES JET.

A post-race veterinary examination of NATURE IS NATURE revealed no obvious abnormality.

App AM Aizat (LIGHTNING THIEF), Jockey TM Wan (COCONUT) and Jockey J Low (DUE HOME) reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations revealed no obvious abnormality. COCONUT, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet examination) before being declared to race again. LIGHTNING THIEF, NATURE IS NATURE and COCONUT were all impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

POST-RACE URINE: 27 – 28 FEBRUARY 2016
PERAK TURF CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING 2016

The report dated 11 March 2016 (V16/30) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 47 coded urine and 52 sets of coded blood samples from the above mentioned race meeting were received on 28 February 2016, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

The report dated 11 March 2016 (V16/31) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 4 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 28 February 2016, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

 

RACE 4 (R870), MITAVITE CUP, SUNDAY, 12 JULY 2015, PERAK GOLD VASE (JULY) MEETING 2015

The Stewards, on Tuesday, 15 March 2016, concluded an inquiry at the Penang Turf Club into the fall of ELEVEN UP (K Eirwan) and PISCES GEM (J De Souza) that occurred during the running of the above race.

After viewing the video and taking evidence from Jockey K Eirwan, the rider of ELEVEN UP, the Stewards were of the opinion that there was insufficient evidence to attach blame to any particular rider and therefore deemed this to be a racing incident and no further action would be taken.

AMENDMENT
TUESDAY, 8 MARCH 2016, SELANGOR TURF CLUB TRACKWORK

Trainer L Moy was fined RM250 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for galloping VALENTINE BABY on the heath track, which is contrary to the Track Regulations.

PERAK TURF CLUB OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL – TUESDAY, 15 MARCH 2016

SILVERON WINGS (A89), which stood and took no part in the Official Barrier Trial on Tuesday 20/03/2016 at the Perak Turf Club, will now be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

 

PENANG TURF CLUB OFFICIAL BARRIER TRIAL – TUESDAY, 15 MARCH 2016

Syce Mohamad Nazri bin Mashor (S434) employed by Trainer S Hamilton was fined RM100 for contravention of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for smoking a cigarette while leading a horse for the Official Barrier Trial on Tuesday, 15 March 2016.

Trainer S Hamilton was warned to ensure that her employees adhere to work etiquette.

PENANG TURF CLUB – SATURDAY, 19 MARCH 2016

Trainer HS Lim appeared before the Stipendiary Stewards Panel and was warned that he would be required to improve his stable management, in particular, with regards to submitting accurate and complete "Stable Returns" by the 10 of each month (MRA Rule 33(7)), and secondly, with regards to him continuously misplacing the Official White Cards issued to his horses in the past. Trainer HS Lim was advised that in future, action may be taken against him with regards to his stable administration.

The Stewards further warned Trainer HS Lim for failing to arrive on course one hour prior to the running of Race 1 as required under the MRA Rules.

 

URINE SAMPLE (NO. J-6124) TAKEN FROM SENIOR TRACK RIDER RAGUNATHAN A/L PALANI ON 10 MARCH 2016

On Thursday, 10 March 2016, a urine sample (No. J-6124) taken for analysis from Senior Track Rider Ragunathan a/l Palani (Snr Tr 52) employed by Trainer HS Lim, revealed the presence of 9-Tetrahydrocannabinol-carboxylic acid (Cannabis Metabolite), a prohibited substance in terms of the MRA Rules.

On 19 March 2016, Senior Track Rider Ragunathan a/l Palani, in the presence of Trainer HS Lim, was advised about the result of analysis and was further advised that in terms of MRA Regulation 46.3.1, he has seven days to advise the Stewards, in writing, should he wish the referee sample to be sent for confirmatory analysis.

An inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed.
