JANUARY MEETING
Second Day,  Sunday,  24 January 2016

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

EMPEROR QIAN LONG, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised off-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WINNING LINE, which was up 20kgs in body weight, and ZHAN SHEN, which was down 26kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

YOUSINGWEDANCE (App AK Lim) fly-jumped at the start.

JACKWIN (J Shankar) and MALíS DAD (App M Hanif) were both slow to begin at the start.

Shortly after the start at about the 1500m, ZHAN SHEN (WK Yan), which was racing at the rear of the field, checked and lost ground when bumped inwards onto the hind quarters of WINNING LINE (App CT Lee) as a result of MALíS DAD shifting inwards. App M Hanif was subsequently shown the video replay and warned to take more care when shifting ground in future.

MALíS DAD was trapped four wide on the turn at the 800m.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOUSINGWEDANCE returned lame off-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ZHAN SHEN and GOOD GIFT (App S Shafrizal) revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of ALEX FIVE O (M Zairi) revealed that the horse returned cut into off-fore.

App KC Wong, the rider of HORIZON LAD, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.

Trainer P Pereira, when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of BIG EGO (App T Krisna), advised the Panel that the gelding had returned to form after a disappointing run in Ipoh on 12 December 2015. On that occasion, Jockey M Wepner reported that BIG EGO was not striding out freely in the "soft" going and he eased the gelding down from approximately the 200m mark. Trainer P Pereira further advised that since that run, he had rested BIG EGO and the horse had improved in the "good" going. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding "in-and-out" running (MRA Rule 117(3)). He was advised that should BIG EGO prove to be inconsistent in the future, the horse may be suspended.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

At the start, PHILIP (App T Krisna) jumped awkwardly outwards onto RUNFORIT (App AM Aizat) which was slow to begin.

TIME TO SHINE (K Yazid) was leaning in the barrier, became restless and fly-jumped at the start.

DONíTSTOPBELIEVING (App CT Lee) was slow to begin.

FEARED (M Yusri) was a little slow into stride.

At about the 1400m, SYCE CRACKER (App SU Lim) stumbled. App SU Lim reported that SYCE CRACKER took little interest in the race after the 1400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. SYCE CRACKER, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Rounding the home turn at about the 400m mark, FAIRBORN (App M Hanif) steadied after racing up onto the heels of WORLD SUPERMAN (S Sandana).

Approaching the 300m mark, PHILIP was held up and switched outwards for a clear run.

FAIRBORN was held up for a clear run on the heels of WORLD SUPERMAN at about the 200m mark.

FEARED and PHILIP both drifted inwards under pressure in the closing stages.

ALACARTE (App S Zulfikri) had a tendency to lay inwards in the closing stages.

After being placed into the barriers, SPARKLER (F Yap) became restless, broke through the gates and galloped the course riderless. Acting on veterinary advice, the gelding was withdrawn at 2.51 pm. SPARKLER will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

LECTERN (App T Krisna), which had its head turned to the outside in the barrier just prior to the start, jumped awkwardly at the start, threw its head up and was slow to begin.

App T Krisna, in the presence of his master, Trainer R Lines, was questioned regarding this incident and the video replays were reviewed. It would appear that when App T Krisna straightened his horseís head, the start was effected, he was not quite ready and became unbalanced at the start causing the horse to throw its head. App T Krisna was advised that in future, under similar circumstances, he should appeal to the Starter to allow him to be ready.

Shortly after the start, MARIO ATTILA (App WK Lee) was squeezed between VALHALLA (App KC Tham) and SHINING SUPREME (App SU Lim) which received some pressure from ASTROHEAT (App S Shafrizal) which had jumped awkwardly inwards.

Post-race veterinary examinations of LECTERN and SHINING SUPREME revealed no obvious abnormality. LECTERN was impounded for further veterinary and analytical examination.

App KC Tham, the rider of VALHALLA, reported that he was squeezed at the start, his mount showed no early pace and was hanging inwards in the straight. He was questioned in the presence of his master, Trainer Nor Azman regarding his reports which were not verified in the video replays. Rounding the turn at the 800m, the saddle bag was dislodged from the saddle and as a result, Jockey TM Wan returned to scale approximately 8kg under-weight. This matter will be investigated further.

TRIPLE ONE DíBEST (App P Mogun) was caught wide on the turn into the home straight.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that CIZEN WORLD returned lame near-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.
