RACE 7 (R120),  SATURDAY, 24 JANUARY 2016, 2ND DAY
PENANG JANUARY MEETING 2016

The Stewards today (30 January 2016) concluded an investigation into the incident whereby Jockey TM Wan, the rider of TEN SENSE WIN returned to scale approximately 8kgs under-weight in the above race.

The Stewards took evidence from Trainer P Pereira and Jockey TM Wan and it was established that because of his light body weight, Jockey TM Wan was carrying close to 10kgs ‘dead’ weight, 8kgs of which were in the saddle bag. It was confirmed from the video replays that the saddle bag was dislodged from the saddle at about the 800m.

Trainer P Pereira and Jockey TM Wan were warned that in future, under similar circumstances, they would have to take note of the excess ‘dead’ weight carried and make provision for this. In addition, under MRA Rule 121(2), TEN SENSE WIN was disqualified from the race and the race result amended accordingly.
